Autumn Pottery Event 2026 (October 24-25)

Autumn Pottery Event 2026, October 24 and 25: Mogusa clay workshop and a special-price sale of kiln-original tableware

As autumn deepens, Gallery Son is holding its autumn pottery event once again this year.

This year no booking is needed, and you are free to come and go. Drop in at any time during opening hours. Advance reservations are also accepted.

Event details

  • Dates: Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October 2026, 10:00-16:00
  • Venue: Gallery Son (364-1 Nanakubo, Iijima, Kamiina District, Nagano)
  • Admission: Free. A separate charge applies if you would like your piece fired
  • Booking: Not required (advance reservations also accepted)
  • Parking: Available
  • Children: Welcome to join in
  • Weather: Held in light rain; cancelled in severe weather

Event 1 | Mogusa clay workshop - shape a piece of your own

Mogusa clay is said to be one of the rarest pottery clays in the world. Why not shape a piece of your own from it?

A yunomi (tea cup), a small plate, a guinomi (sake cup) - what you make is up to you. It takes about 30 minutes, and first-timers are in good hands. Last year families with children joined us too. Come and make an autumn memory.

  • Reception: 10:00-16:00 on both days, drop in any time
  • Duration: About 30 minutes
  • Fee: Free
  • What to bring: One towel per person

If you would like your piece fired, we will keep it for you for a separate charge.

Event 2 | Kiln-original tableware at special prices

Our ever-popular sale of kiln-original pieces returns this autumn.

Pieces of a quality you will not find elsewhere, offered at special prices. Rare works that are no longer made will be on the tables as well. Tokkuri (sake bottles), guinomi (sake cups), beer tumblers, plates, flower vases and more - half the pleasure is hunting for a find of your own.
